About Demitra

Demitra Saravanos, L.M.H.C.Demitra Saravanos is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. She holds an Education Specialist degree and a Masters degree in Counselor Education; Mental Health Counseling, graduating Cum Laude, from the Nationally Rated #2 and CACREP accredited, University of Florida.

Demitra has been practicing in the Tampa Bay area for over eighteen years opening her Tarpon Springs location in 2005 and her Trinity location in 2019.  She is a member of the American Mental Health Counselors Association and is a featured provider on Psychology Today and Wellness.com.  Her online reviews can be read here:

Currently, her practice is specialized in treating women and couples with a strong focus on Anxiety, Panic, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Relationship Strengthening and Healing from Betrayal and Infidelity.

Early in her practice, she specialized in children, adolescents and their families. During this time she drew strongly on the principles of play, art, and family therapies to both prevent and address pertinent issues. Throughout the years she has expanded her expertise to work solely with women’s and couple’s issues.

As a therapist and seeker of knowledge for many years, she continues to have excitement and respect for the therapeutic healing process. The ability to utilize a conceptual framework for counseling and adapting to a variety of comprehension styles allows her to excel at articulating and imparting information, as well as understanding of client’s feelings and motivations during the process. At various community mental health agencies she facilitated, consulted and supervised. UF Health Shands Hospital and St. Petersburg College are among the businesses that have benefited from her therapeutic skills. Ms. Saravanos has administered psychological testing, assessment, and research throughout the years. Additionally, she has been a writer and presenter of her own continuing education courses for the State of Florida  licensure requirements.

She has presented on a variety of topics including trauma, effective parenting, the special needs of the sexually abused, boundaries, co-dependency, self-empowerment, being active and self-directive, strengthening core relationships, breaking obsessive-compulsive cycles, and coping with loss.
